StrongPack has been a Sidel customer since the beginning of its operations in 2018. Thanks to working together with Sidel’s flexible and customer-focused project management team, StrongPack is now one of Nigeria’s leading co-packers in the field of non-alcoholic beverages. The new high-speed line, which will operate at 86,000 bottles per hour (bph) will be one of the fastest in Africa. This fact also marks StrongPack’s entry into the still water co-packaging market.
At present, StrongPack is one of the world’s largest producers of Royal Crown (RC) Cola and also the most important and diversified co-packer in Nigeria. The company co-packages products such as malt drinks, teas, regular sodas, fruit juices and nectars and fruit-flavored drinks, including nitrogen-pressurized packaging for major brands worldwide. Bottled water is the most consumed category of soft drink in Nigeria and represents a higher than average share of the global sector of that class of drinks, compared to the rest of the region.
Sidel designed a new and iconic bottle shape inspired by the multicultural lifestyle of Nigeria. It combines an original format with an angular structural design in order to optimize the consumer experience and the resistance of the container, in addition to improving the functionality and firmness of the bottle. The nitrogen dosage introduced into the free space of the bottle at the time of filling prevents vacuum or expansion and offers a lightweight and high-performance bottle, ideal for a local distribution chain that requires packaging with a high adaptability. The new line will produce 600ml bottles of as little as 11.5 g in packs of 12. Sidel executed complete feasibility and performance tests for the blowing and stretching process.
The sale of the 1,000th EvoBLOW highlights Sidel’s leadership in blowing innovation
Sidel launched its first commercial PET blower more than 40 years ago and there are currently 7000 Sidel SBO blowers of all generations in operation worldwide. The company offers the highest level of configuration possibilities for blowing in order to ensure that the solutions are customized to specific market needs, for example, in the three complete PET lines incorporating the Sidel Actis coating system, installed in StrongPack. Sidel specialists continuously work to optimize the blowing process and provide the best bottle quality and performance for all types of PET resins. This includes virgin and recycled PET (r-PET), returnable (ref-PET) and returnable, as well as transparent, opaque, monolayer and multilayer.
