Meler, HMI-MBS and Universal Robots combine their know-how to offer an adhesive application workshop with the help of a collaborative robot. The demonstration took place on January 19th at the Meler facilities in Orleans. The application of adhesives in industry is only one of the phases of the production process in many sectors. It is a part of the whole. That’s why the Meler France team has organized a practical workshop at its facilities, together with HMI-MBS and Universal Robots, to demonstrate how cobotics can optimize the application of adhesives at the end of the line.”
The program of the conference included a presentation of the organizing companies and a real demonstration in which the attendees, with technical profiles from industries such as aeronautics or automotive, could check the advantages that a collaborative robot can bring in any adhesive application. Sylvain Pitard, commercial director of the French subsidiary of Meler, and Julien Plault, commercial technician of HMI-MBS, explained two real cases of applying adhesives in palletizing processes.
The logistics sector has quickly implemented the combination of both technologies: cobotics and the application of adhesives thanks to the productive advantages they represent for the profitability of the end of the line. The occupational risks related to loading and transporting goods are reduced (1) and operators can focus on other tasks with higher added value.
But the interest of introducing these technologies lies not only in profitability and safety. By introducing the application of adhesives, we also eliminated the use of single-use packaging materials (2) achieving excellent results in the unification of the merchandise. This ecological aspect is what continues to drive many companies to change their end-of-line facilities.
At the end of the demonstration there was a question and answer session in which to receive personalized advice for the implementation of new projects from the attendees.
In addition to the positive aspects that this type of professional meetings entail, Sylvain Pitard, sales director of Focke Meler France, acknowledges his satisfaction as host: “It is exciting to resume the networking activities so typical of a sector like ours, in which one always works as a team. It is this type of exchanges that make our commercial activity gain more value and it is also a pride to have organized it in our facilities in Orléans that were inaugurated in the middle of the pandemic”.
“The objective of this event has been the same that Meler shares as a company: to improve the future of industrial adhesive application together. That’s why this is the first of many more,” the company explains.
