New flooring at the headquarters of a top Midland-based aluminium foil container manufacturer has won a prestigious award for its installers and suppliers.
More than 13,000 square metres of flooring was needed for Nicholl Food Packaging’s new premises situated on a nine-acre site in Walkmill Lane at Bridgtown, near Cannock.
Nicholl Food Packaging, which is the largest aluminium foil container manufacturer in Britain, acquired the former Gripperods/Duralay factory last year, and extensive refurbishment has followed.
The company, which has a turnover of £60 million, manufactures aluminium foil containers for the bakery, catering and fast food /ethnic take-away trades, supermarkets and institutional caterers.
The new flooring – designed, supplied and installed by 4m flooring uk – had to be applied over a worn concrete substrate. Flowcrete’s Flowtex STB product was chosen because of it decorative qualities, extreme durability and anti-slip performance.
Now 4m and Flowcrete have won jointly the Resin Flooring Association’s annual Best Application award.
Nicholl Food Packaging’s chief operating officer director Andrew Dent said: “We required new flooring which would provide a hygienic and easy-to-clean surface along with a construction robust enough to withstand the rigours of a busy factory environment.”
Mark Holden, managing director of 4m flooring uk, said: “The floor at Nicholl Food Packaging covers a large area and not only looks superb but can stand up to all the demands associated with the food industry.”
