Gentlebrand designs the “label-free” packaging for Montbest, a product brand of Korea Crystal Beverage

The Korean company Korea Crystal Beverage, with more than 48 years of activity, commissions Gentlebrand to design a premium and sustainable packaging solution for its leading brand. A big step towards a greener future.

Montbest, a very popular brand in the Korean market and winner of 3 stars from the International Taste Institute for two consecutive years, is widely promoted in the country. Montbest is an ultrapure water coming from the granite rocks of Mount Gukmangbong. Rocks act as a natural filter for water, enriching it with precious minerals. This is fully reflected in the etymology of the brand name, which in Korean means “the best gift for yourself, with carefully bottled water from the spring at the foot of the mountain.”

Redesigning the packaging of such an emblematic product by eliminating the label meant designing and developing a new product identity in which the fundamental values of the brand could be transmitted exclusively through the logo, the purple color and the details engraved directly on the bottle.

Creativity and technical knowledge have been key in the development of the project. Part of the exercise consisted of updating the existing packaging and achieving the right balance between the size of the logo and the information required by law, which is now embossed on the body of the bottle, making it visible and, above all, legible. The new Montbest bottle, which comes in the sizes of 330 ml, 500 ml, 1l and 2 L, is now square in shape and features grooves in the corners that give it a quality look and feel by reflecting more light, while improving the user experience by providing a better grip.

Thanks to the extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of packaging feasibility, the project went beyond the development of the bottles and also included the creation of prototypes and laboratory tests to evaluate the mechanical performance of the new containers and verify the quality and legibility of the logos.

The result of this successful project, which adapts to the needs of customers, has been the manufacture of 68 molds for existing product lines, thanks to the key partnership with Competek, a French company specialized in PET packaging solutions.
