ANGLO-ITALIAN ALLIANCE GIVES NICHOLL NEW OPPORTUNITIES

West Midlands aluminium foil container manufacturer Nicholl Food Packaging has joined forces with an Italian company to offer its customers a new range of paper products.

The Aldridge-based company has signed an exclusive distribution deal – covering the UK, France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg – with Ecopack of Turin.

Ecopack produces specialised packaging for the bakery industry and has developed in its own workshops a revolutionary paper mould which uses pure virgin fibre.

The manufacturing process, which is a closely guarded secret, involves the mechanical grinding of the pulp which binds together the fibres in the paper to produce a stronger container and a more effective barrier against fat.

The muffin, pie, cake and pizza moulds, which can be used in microwave and conventional ovens, and are freezable, come in a range of 14 sizes from 45mm (base) x 40mm (height) to 300mm x 15mm.

The unique rolled edges give the case extra strength and also allows for easy dispensing in fully automated high-volume bakeries.

They are coated on one side to obstruct water and fat while providing excellent baking release, and on the other with a water-repellent layer – particularly crucial for freezing.

Nicholl Food Packaging is the largest manufacturer of aluminium foil containers in Europe and its new strategic alliance with Ecopack will add value and choice for existing and potential Nicholl customers.

Ecopack, a family-owned business, founded in 1939, also specialises in the production of paper cases for automatic feeding units in high-volume production facilities in a complete range of round, rectangular and oval shapes.

The Tray System, which combines a framework card with 24 individual cups for easy portioning, allows for high volume production, and the easy removal of the product using the perforations for separation.

For its new paper products Nicholl Food Packaging can also offer personalised low volume printing, along with low-cost high volume printing.
