The SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line allows La Doria to fill food products in SIG SafeBloc cardboard containers, taking advantage of the numerous logistical and sustainable advantages of this packaging solution. The low weight and rectangular shape of GIS cartons guarantee manufacturers and retailers maximum efficiency in transportation and storage, as well as more effective use of shelf space.

In Italy and throughout Europe, many customers and retailers are increasingly appreciating the logistical, convenience and sustainable advantages of cardboard packaging for canned food. SIG SafeBloc cartons are a more sustainable packaging option compared to cans or glass jars*, and ensure that products, such as vegetables and stews, are optimally protected to retain their high quality for a long period. La Doria fills a wide range of legumes in the new SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line in SIG SafeBloc cardboard containers, from 200 ml to 500 ml.

In 2022, La Doria packaged its food products in more than 100 million GIS cartons, supplying many of the most important retailers in Europe. Its continued partnership with SIG ensures that La Doria remains at the forefront of the market, as more brands and retailers look for sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging, such as metal cans and glass jars, for canned food. Commercial production of the Doria’s third SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line began at the beginning of 2023.

Paolo Volpari, Marketing Director for Europe at SIG: “Cartons continue to gain ground for food products thanks to their strong environmental performance and high level of convenience. Our innovative solutions not only meet the changing needs of customers like La Doria, but also those of consumers, who are now much more aware of environmental issues and are looking for high-quality, long-lasting products in more sustainable packaging.”
